THE VALUE OF A GARMENT IS NOT MEASURED BY ITS BRAND BUT THE AMOUNT OF MEMORIES LIVED WITH
We are at the beginning of summer and I am spending a week with my uncle in the southwest of France. I spend a lot of time with Céleste (one of my cousins). One day, coming back from surfing, we decide to go climb the Dune du Pilât early the next morning. As I have some of my photo equipment with me and a roll of film to finish, I suggest that we take the opportunity to shoot. So we start looking for something cool to put on her back, rummaging through her father's old clothes she unearths a long-sleeved T-shirt straight out of the 80s. Unsurprisingly, it's faded, it fits too big and there are holes in it. PERFECT! The next day we arrive on the dune at sunrise, we are alone on this giant pile of sand sandwiched between a forest of green pines and the deep blue ocean. These moments are immortalized through 8 photos. (Here are 2)
This t-shirt, my uncle had it for years. With it, He had surfed, probably skated and lived a lot of moments for two decades. And that day, it found itself on the back of his 16-year-old daughter to be immortalised. Today, more than 7 years later, for my cousin and I, it has become much more than a cool old t-shirt found in a closet. It's a good memory.
So after that day, I started to think about this feeling and SWAP was growing up in my mind…
SWAP was born.
